Guide to International Forwarding Service for Japanese Online Stores

As promised in our Retail Advisory section, we will be posting guides on how to order from foreign websites. Well, from Korean and Japanese online stores. We are yet to solve the problem of ordering from Korean sites *coughSPAOcough*. Though a simple solution would be to travel to Korea or ask a friend living in Korea/eBay sellers. Anyways back to the main point of this guide. is an international forwarding service which allows you to place orders on Japanese online stores that do not offer international shipping.

Registration is for free and the steps are very easy to follow. The site can be viewed in Chinese, Japanese, Korean or English. So how does it work? Basically, after you register on, they will provide you with a Japanese address. On Japanese online stores that do not offer international shipping, they will require you to enter a Japanese address. You can then enter the address Tenso gave you. Your order will arrive as Tenso’s warehouse and they will calculate how much your usage fee is. After you pay the usage fee, Tenso will ship your order to you.

This might sound confusing but is set out very well and is easy to navigate. The website will probably answer any questions/problems you may have. An in-depth explanation of the process can  be found here. Even so, below are answers to some FAQs.

Finally, the site even offers to place your order for you if you are having trouble ordering from the Japanese website or the store does not accept credit cards from foreign countries. You will need a Paypal account in order to use this service. Auction sites are excluded from this. Click here for more info!

1. What is a usage fee?

2. What payment methods does accept (in regards to paying the usage fee)?

They accept credit card (VISA, MasterCard, JCB and Amex) and Paypal.

3. Do I have to pay for my order at the Japanese online store?

Yes you do. This means that you must pay for the items you ordered and the domestic shipping (ie. shipping to the Tenso warehouse). You will then be billed for the usage fee from Tenso after they receive your order.

4. Does accept returns?

No they do not. You must contact the retailer.

Note: We advise you to consult for more information. This guide only provides a brief overview and we are not responsible for any problems experienced using the service.
